you are cordially invited to join me at the cherry tree site (the pedestrianised junction between Northchurch Road and Southgate Road next to the De Beauvoir Deli) tomorrow evening from 6pm. Come along with trowel and/or drink in hand to celebrate the planting up of the entrance to the De Beauvoir Gardeners’ Chelsea Fringe Festival. It is intended that this site opens up the 2 miles trail of pop up gardens, being created by our neighbours throughout De Beauvoir and Hackney. An array of beautiful flowers will be set out and planted into the ground over seen by an expert at the N1 garden centre, who have kindly donated a massive percentage of the flowers, all help will be greatly appreciated.
Diana, Kirsty and neighbours will be setting up the tree pit gardens simultaneously in the Hertford Road area and then joining us for a drink when they are done. If you want to join and help them out there, please visit them there!
There are at least 18 other sites being set up this weekend (please contact me if you are setting one up and want me to find help). Local residents and Garden club members have worked incredibly hard these past two months, and none of this would have been possible without Diana Weir’s incredible determination to get everything above board- which she has almost unbelievably managed. Diana has also managed to get a large part of the community involved in many ways, including donating their bath water! A gigantic thank you to Francesca Bartlett and Tigger Cullinan for their amazing hard work in the organising, growing and their large part in this collaboration.
I appreciate that this is late notice, and if you are unable to pop by, on behalf of the De Beauvoir Gardeners Pop Up Chelsea subcommittee, I would like to thank you for your support and hope you enjoy the show!
Hope to see you tomorrow!
